CASSVILLE, Wis. — A one-vehicle crash involving entrapment occurred Saturday afternoon on County U near Rattlesnake Road in Beetown Township.

At approximately 1:12 p.m. on October 3, 2026, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the incident. Michael Stoner, 80, of Moline, Illinois, was traveling west on County U in his 2026 Subaru Forester when he attempted to avoid a deer in the roadway. Stoner swerved to his right, causing the vehicle to leave the north side of the roadway. The Subaru traveled through a fence and overturned in a pasture.

Stoner became trapped in the vehicle and required extrication by the Cassville and Bloomington Fire Departments. He was transported by Cassville EMS to Grant Regional Health Center for evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Cassville Fire Department, Cassville EMS, Bloomington Fire Department, and Arrow Towing of Lancaster.
