
DUBUQUE, Iowa — State wildlife officials are looking into a fatal boat crash that claimed two lives on the Mississippi River near Dubuque on Saturday afternoon.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources received a report at about 3 p.m. that a vessel had hit a floating object, throwing three people overboard. A boat operating nearby pulled one of the victims from the water. The remaining two individuals were located and declared dead at the scene.
Responding agencies included DNR conservation officers, the Key West Fire Department, the Dubuque County Conservation Board, and the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
