A three-year-old boy died Saturday after being struck by a vehicle in the driveway of a residence in Watterstown Township, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office received a 911 call at approximately 3:34 p.m. on Oct. 3 reporting that a child had been struck by a vehicle at a home on Old C Road. Deputies and Boscobel EMS responded to the scene.

According to the initial investigation, Melinda Brown, 38, of Boscobel, was returning home when her three-year-old son, identified as G. Brown, ran across the driveway to greet her. Brown told her son to move out of the driveway so she could park, and the boy ran toward the house. Another child was also present and was removing toys from the driveway at the time.

The boy then turned and came back toward the vehicle without Brown seeing him. He was struck by the front tire of the SUV.

Family members transported the child to Emplify Hospital in Boscobel, where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities described the incident as a tragic accident. The investigation remains ongoing.
