Dubuque County is gearing up for one of its most beloved summer traditions. The Dubuque County Fair, hosted at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds (14569 Old Highway Road, Dubuque, IA), runs from Tuesday, July 28, through Sunday, August 2, 2026. This six-day celebration promises to deliver classic fair experiences alongside exciting entertainment, agricultural showcases, and family-friendly attractions. 

Fair Highlights and Daily Themes

The fair offers something for everyone, emphasizing community, 4-H/FFA youth participation, and memorable experiences:

•  Tuesday, July 28: Free Admission Day (sponsored by Tegeler Wrecker & Crane) — Grounds open at 8:00 a.m. with a sensory-safe hour from 8:00–9:00 a.m. Enjoy free entry for all, plus a Neil Diamond Tribute and Country Duets by Doug Allen Nash in the grandstands. 

•  Wednesday, July 29: Kids Day (sponsored by The Donovan Family) — Perfect for families with pedal pulls, tiny prince and princess contests, coloring contests, and kid-focused activities. 

•  Thursday, July 30: Country Day (sponsored by Theisen’s) — Headlined by Dylan Marlowe with special guest Atlus. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. show. 

•  Friday, July 31: Rock Day — Features Sleep Theory with special guest Silly Goose. 

•  Saturday, August 1 — ECIPA Truck & Tractor Pull at 6:30 p.m. 

•  Sunday, August 2: Race Day & Demo Day — Demolition Derby at 11:00 a.m. and Julien Dubuque Classic Races. 

Attractions and Entertainment

All-day highlights include:

•  Old MacDonald’s Farm, Tiny Town, and the Exotic Animal Zoo.

•  Creative Arts Building, Kids Korner, 4-H Building, and Exhibit Hall showcasing local talent, projects, and horticulture.

•  Carnival rides (with special pricing and bracelets most days), mechanical bull, magic & comedy shows, bubble & foam tower, one-woman circus, impressionists, and more. 

Additional fun includes eating contests, a famous frog jump, ribs and wing cook-off, beer Olympics, kiddie car show, live local bands in the Festival Garden, and hands-on STEM activities. 

Admission and Practical Info

•  Adult (12+): $12.

•  Children (0–11): Free.

•  Discounts available: Buy 5 admissions for the price of 4. Veterans and active duty can purchase discounted tickets in advance. 

•  Parking: Free general parking with shuttle; preferred and motorcycle options available.

•  Midway rides have daily specials (e.g., individual tickets on Tuesday, bracelets Wednesday–Sunday). 

The fairgrounds are a 96-acre non-profit venue operated by the Dubuque County Fair Association, which supports local youth programs and community organizations.
