
Dubuque, IA – October 2, 2025 – A 22-year-old Dubuque resident was taken into custody early Wednesday morning following a traffic stop that uncovered several violations, including possession of a dangerous weapon while intoxicated, according to authorities.
Daniel Dean Mcmillan, 22, was arrested at approximately 1:47 a.m. on October 1, 2025, at 4046 Flamingo Drive.
Mcmillan faces five misdemeanor charges stemming from the incident:
1. Possess/Carry Dangerous Weapon While Under the Influence – Authorities allege Mcmillan was in possession of a prohibited weapon while impaired.
2. Open Container in Vehicle Driver – An open alcoholic beverage container was found within reach of the driver.
3. Public Intoxication – Mcmillan exhibited signs of intoxication in a public space, including slurred speech and unsteady gait, per the arrest report.
4. Failure to Prove Security Against Liability – Accident – The driver could not provide proof of financial responsibility following the crash.
5. Failure to Maintain Control – Investigators determined Mcmillan lost control of the vehicle, contributing to the accident.
Mcmillan was booked into the Dubuque County Jail and released pending on bail pending a court appearance. He is scheduled to appear before a Dubuque County magistrate on October 15, 2025. All charges are misdemeanors, punishable by fines and potential jail time upon conviction.
