Dubuque, IA – July 22, 2025 – The Dubuque County Public Works Department has successfully completed a flood repair construction project on Rupp Hollow Road, spanning 1.87 miles from Highway 3 to Kennedy Road. The project, which began on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 9:00 AM, was finalized earlier today, Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM, restoring full access to this vital local roadway.

The repair work addressed damage caused by recent flooding, focusing on restoring the roadbed, pavement, and drainage systems to ensure safe travel and resilience against future weather events. The project was completed with minimal disruption, and Rupp Hollow Road is now fully open to traffic, ahead of the anticipated timeline.

Local officials praised the swift response and coordination by the county’s public works team. “We prioritized this repair to reconnect our community and ensure safe passage for residents and visitors, especially with the 72nd Annual Dubuque County Fair underway,” said a spokesperson for the Dubuque County Public Works Department. The timely reopening aligns with the fair’s kickoff, which began today with free admission, ensuring attendees can access the fairgrounds without detour-related delays.

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously as the newly repaired road surface settles and to remain vigilant for any signage indicating ongoing minor maintenance.
