CASTLE ROCK TOWNSHIP, Wis. — A 44-year-old construction worker died Friday morning after falling through the roof of a farm building in Grant County.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at approximately 8:10 a.m. on August 7, 2026, reporting a construction accident on County Q in Castle Rock Township. According to information provided to the communications center, an individual had fallen through a roof and landed on the cement floor below.

Emergency crews from Highland EMS, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Upon arrival, deputies learned that a construction crew had been at the property to repair the roof of a farm building. While working on the roof, one member of the crew fell through, dropping approximately 30 feet onto the concrete floor below.

Co-workers immediately rendered medical aid. Highland EMS and State Patrol personnel provided additional life-saving measures after arriving on scene. Despite those efforts, the 44-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Grant County Coroner’s Office as a result of injuries sustained in the fall.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The incident remains under investigation by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Grant County Coroner’s Office. Assisting agencies included the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, the Darlington Police Department, and Grant County Emergency Management.
