
Grant County, Wis. — A single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning left a Rock Island, Illinois, man with possible injuries after he swerved to avoid a rabbit on Highway 133.
Grant County Dispatch received the report of a one-vehicle crash with possible injuries at approximately 6:22 a.m. July 28 near the intersection of Highway 133 and County Trunk Highway K in Woodman Township.
When a deputy arrived, he determined that Jeffrey Mckinney, 61, of Rock Island, Illinois, had been driving a 2020 Ford van northbound on Highway 133. The van is owned by Bonnett Wholesale Florist. Mckinney swerved to miss a rabbit, left the roadway on the right side, traveled into the ditch, went over a culvert, crossed the road, and struck an embankment.
The vehicle sustained disabling damage. Mckinney was transported by Boscobel EMS to Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital for possible injuries. He was cited for failure to maintain control.
Assisting at the scene were Boscobel EMS, Mount Hope Fire, and Terry’s Tire and Tow of Boscobel. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash.
