GALENA, IL – The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office issued 5 seat belt citations, 2 distracted driving citations, and 1 expired registration citation during the recent Fourth of July safety campaigns.

The enforcement period ran from June 19 through July 6 as part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High Get a DUI,” and “Click It or Ticket” initiatives. The Sheriff’s Office joined more than 200 other Illinois law enforcement agencies in high-visibility patrols and outreach efforts aimed at reducing impaired and unsafe driving.

The campaigns are funded by federal traffic safety grants through the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and supported by the “It’s Not a Game” media campaign.
