Ellenboro Township, Wis. — A rear-end collision on State Trunk Highway 81 at its intersection with Jentz Baker Road left both drivers uninjured Sunday afternoon, June 7, 2026, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:24 p.m. when a westbound 2014 Chevrolet Traverse driven by 19-year-old Aiden D. Uppena of Potosi struck the rear of a stopped 2016 GMC Canyon operated by 70-year-old Wayne R. Jentz of Platteville.

According to the initial investigation, Jentz was stopped in traffic on STH 81, waiting to make a left turn into his driveway when the collision occurred. Uppena told deputies he had briefly looked away from the road. Upon looking forward again, he realized the GMC Canyon was stopped ahead of him and was unable to brake in time to avoid impact.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage but remained drivable and were able to leave the scene under their own power. Neither Jentz nor Uppena reported injuries at the scene, and no medical transport was required.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash. Factors such as speed, road conditions, and exact circumstances surrounding the momentary distraction are still under review. No citations have been announced at this time.
