Lancaster, Wisconsin — February 14, 2026 — A 47-year-old man from rural Lancaster, Nicholas Voss, was taken into custody Thursday after allegedly assaulting and falsely imprisoning his girlfriend, prompting the deployment of the Southwest Wisconsin Emergency Response Team (SWERT) to serve a search warrant at his residence.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded on February 12, 2026, following a report that a female victim had arrived at a local hospital with significant injuries, including bruises, contusions, and broken bones. The victim reportedly identified her boyfriend, Voss, as the perpetrator.
Investigators determined that the incident occurred at Voss’s home south of Lancaster, where he allegedly held the victim against her will for several hours. This escalation from physical assault to prolonged restraint raised immediate concerns about victim safety and potential ongoing threats.
Background checks during the investigation revealed Voss was subject to multiple active warrants:
• A felony warrant for violations of the Sex Offender Registry.
• An active Department of Corrections (DOC) warrant related to parole violations from prior 2020 convictions in Grant County.
He is being held without bond and faces the existing warrants plus new felony charges:
These outstanding issues, combined with the nature of the current allegations and Voss’s documented history of violence and firearm possession as a felon, necessitated heightened precautions for warrant service.
The Southwest Wisconsin Emergency Response Team — a multi-agency tactical unit serving southwestern Wisconsin counties for high-risk operations such as barricaded suspects, hostage situations, or cases involving potentially armed individuals — was activated. SWERT executed the search warrant at Voss’s residence on February 12 without incident. Voss was arrested peacefully and transported to the Grant County Jail.
