
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Dubuque County, Iowa, effective from noon today, June 21, through 8 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2025. Heat index values up to 106 are expected due to temperatures in the 90s and high humidity. Hot conditions may cause heat illnesses, worsened by consecutive days of sweltering temperatures with overnight lows in the mid to upper 70s. Residents should drink fluids, stay in air-conditioned spaces, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
Cooling Centers Open in Dubuque
The City of Dubuque has opened several cooling centers to provide relief during the heat wave, available from June 21 to June 24, 2025. Locations and hours include:
• Multicultural Family Center: Daily, 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
• Carnegie-Stout Public Library: Saturday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; Sunday, noon–5:00 p.m.; Monday–Tuesday, 9:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
• Comiskey Park Community Center: Saturday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Monday–Tuesday, 6:45 a.m.–6:15 p.m.
• Allison-Henderson Park Community Center: Daily, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
• Dubuque Intermodal Transportation Center: Monday–Tuesday, 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
• Theisen’s Home, Farm & Auto: Saturday, 10:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.; Sunday, 11:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; Monday–Tuesday, 10:00 a.m.–unspecified closing.
