Dubuque, Iowa — A driver sustained injuries Friday morning after their 2015 Chevrolet Traverse failed to negotiate a curve on a rural Dubuque County roadway, striking a guardrail, according to Iowa State Patrol officials.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:34 a.m. on June 12, 2026, at the intersection of Derby Grange Road and Hales Mill Road in Dubuque County (Crash Report No. 202600143795). The driver, whose name is being withheld, was traveling southbound on Hales Mill Road when the vehicle left the roadway and impacted the guardrail on the west side. The Traverse came to rest at the scene and was towed by Tri-State Towing.

The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was injured in the collision. First responders confirmed the seatbelt likely saved their life. The individual was transported by Asbury Ambulance to MercyOne Dubuque for treatment. No other vehicles or individuals were involved.

Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, Asbury Fire & EMS, and Tri-State Towing assisted at the scene. Iowa State Patrol Trooper J. Kuhlman (Post 10) is investigating the incident, and the case remains under investigation. Authorities have not released additional details on contributing factors such as speed, weather conditions, or possible impairment at this time.

No charges have been reported as of this writing. The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate.
