Grant County, WI – The iconic dome of the Grant County Courthouse will be bathed in a respectful red glow from April 27th through May 4th, 2025, as Grant County joins the nationwide Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters tribute. This poignant initiative honors the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities.

The Light the Night event, organized in collaboration with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, calls upon individuals, businesses, and public institutions to display red lights as a powerful symbol of remembrance and deep gratitude for fallen firefighters.

Grant County Administrator Nate Dreckman emphasized the significance of this visual tribute. “The red glow of the Courthouse dome will serve as a visual reminder of the brave men and women who gave their lives protecting our communities,” he stated. “We encourage everyone to join us in this tribute—light your homes or businesses in red, attend remembrance events, and reflect on the sacrifice of our fallen firefighters.”

Adding to the national recognition, the President of the United States has requested that the American flag be flown at half-staff on all federal buildings on May 4th, which coincides with International Firefighters’ Day. This collective effort underscores the nation’s respect and solemn remembrance for these heroes.
Residents and businesses in Grant County are encouraged to participate in Light the Night by displaying red lights in their windows, on their porches, or at their establishments during the designated week.
