Savanna, IL – On October 21, 2024, at approximately 11:50 A.M., a traffic crash with injuries occurred on Highway 84 South, near the intersection of S. Four Corners Rd in rural Savanna, IL. The Jo Daviess County dispatch center received a phone report about the incident.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that Ashley Empen, 40, of Epworth, IA, was driving northbound on Highway 84 South when her vehicle veered into the southbound lane, colliding with a vehicle driven by Rosemary Haring, 80, of Savanna, IL. The impact caused both vehicles to deploy airbags and come to rest off the west edge of the roadway.

Rosemary Haring was transported by Elizabeth EMS to Finley Hospital in Dubuque, IA, while Ashley Empen was taken by Savanna EMS to Midwest Medical Center in Galena, IL. Empen was cited for improper lane usage as a result of the accident.

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, with assistance from Elizabeth EMS, Hanover Fire, Savanna EMS, J and S Towing, and Midwest Motors Towing
