Dubuque, Iowa – In a message to parents this morning, just before school hours, a car struck a student on a bicycle in front of Washington School. Emergency personnel were promptly called to the scene, and school staff, along with bystanders, provided immediate assistance until emergency services arrived.

According to the Dubuque Police Department, the student sustained minor injuries and is expected to recover fully. The quick response from school staff and community members played a crucial role in ensuring the student’s safety.

“We are incredibly thankful to everyone who assisted this morning,” said a school representative. “We are also relieved that the student was not seriously injured.”

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of pedestrian and cyclist safety, especially in school zones. Parents and guardians are encouraged to discuss safety measures with their children to prevent future accidents.
