Shanequa Grisson, a 32-year-old woman from Dubuque, was arrested for neglect after her young child and pet dog were found wandering the streets alone.

Grisson was taken into custody on felony charges of neglect or abandonment of a dependent person at her home on Washington Street in Dubuque on the evening of February 17, 2024. Authorities responded to a call about a child and dog walking unaccompanied around 5 p.m. on Saturday. Upon locating a four-year-old girl and her dog without supervision, police learned that the child had left home without her mother, who was later identified as Grisson. This offense carries a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years.
