The Grant County Sheriff’s Office in Lancaster, WI, is excited to announce the introduction of Prepared Live in their dispatch center. This software, developed by Prepared, allows the dispatch center to livestream, receive multimedia, and obtain accurate location information from mobile callers in real-time. This technological addition will greatly enhance their ability to respond to emergencies in the community efficiently. Sheriff Nate Dreckman expressed their commitment to staying at the forefront of technology to effectively serve the citizens.
The use of video during a call is completely voluntary, and the caller’s consent is required. If consent is given, the dispatcher will send a livestream link via text, which the caller can activate by clicking on it. Importantly, this video feature does not grant the Sheriff’s Office access to the caller’s phone contents or settings. Extensive preparation and training have taken place to ensure that dispatchers can effectively utilize the software, with the assistance of Prepared’s customer success team.
Prepared is an organization driven by the mission of improving public safety and was founded by Mike, Dylan, and Neal. They developed Prepared Live after realizing that valuable data was being lost in the existing 9-1-1 processes. Since its public launch in October 2021, the product has already protected over 40 million individuals across 48 states.
