7-7-2023 DIP NEWS


Grant County Wisconsin ; Gerald White, the father of Douglas White, called the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 11:45 P.M. on August 5, 2023. Mr. Gerald White informed dispatchers that his son, Douglas White, 39, of Plattville, was intoxicated and jumped out of his vehicle along Hwy 61 in North Lancaster Township. Fennimore Police Department officers and a Grant County Sheriff’s deputy responded immediately to the scene.

Officers located Douglas, who was walking south along Hwy 61 and asked to speak with him. In response, Douglas gave the officers the middle finger and swore. Douglas would not cooperate with the officers, and it was apparent he was intoxicated. The officers attempted to detain Douglas and when they did, he resisted, pushing one of the officers. Electric control devices were deployed during the struggle and Douglas was taken into custody safely and without harm.

Douglas was elevated by EMS at the scene before being transported to the Grant County Jail.

Douglas was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Resisting a peace officer. Douglas posted bond the following day and was released. Police from Fennimore and Lancaster EMS were on the scene to provide assistance.

This matter will be referred to the Grant County District Attorney’s Office.

Persons arrested and/or referred for charges by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a An arrest only indicates probable cause exists to bring formal charges. The names of victims and witnesses to a crime have been withheld, per Wisconsin Statute §950.04.
