Jo Daviess County Illinois: On 7/19/23 at approximately 6:05 p.m., deputies responded to W. Blanding Road and S. Whitton Road for a motor vehicle accident. When deputies arrived, they found a red Chevrolet Malibu traveling eastbound on Blanding Rd. The driver advised that when they came around the corner, they noticed a vehicle headed westbound in their lane of travel. In an attempt to avoid the oncoming vehicle, the driver of the red Malibu swerved out of the way. Upon losing control of the vehicle, the Malibu drove offsite on the north side of the road. All four tires came to rest after the vehicle rolled over multiple times. Two of the juvenile occupants were transported from the scene by Elizabeth Ambulance to Midwest Medical for minor injuries. Another juvenile occupant was flown from the scene by Aircare 3 to Rockford Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies later learned that two additional juvenile occupants fled the scene. These individuals were located and one was transported to Midwest Medical for minor injuries.

The driver, age 16, from Savanna Illinois, was charged with driving under the influence. The driver was issued two citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating in violation of a restriction or restricted driving permit. The incident is still under investigation.
