Dubuque, Iowa – Tuesday, July 18, 2023– Dubuque Esports League (DEL), a nonprofit organization encouraging tweens, teens, and young adults to develop skills through hands-on and experiential learning, has announced its grand opening event and Farming Simulator 22 Bale Stacking Mode Competition.
“We are so excited to invite the community to come to DEL and see what esports is about. There is a lot of interest and questions about our esports program. We’ve found the best way to understand competitive gaming is to come and see it in person. We are meeting young people where they are and creating a community for them to grow and make new friends,” shared Susie Quinn, co-founder of Dubuque Esports League.
On August 19, 2023, the entire Tri-State community is invited to DEL’s Grand Opening event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3220 Dodge Street, Suite 109, Dubuque, IA 52003. Highlights of the event include a ribbon cutting at 9:45 a.m., tours of our facility, exploration of our esports programs, giveaways, a silent auction, and more!
Plus, visitors can participate in the DEL gaming experience by tracking their fastest time in our Farming Simulator 22 Bale Stacking Mode Competition and win their share of $500 and prizes! Kermit Ball with GIANTS Software, the makers of the popular Farming Simulator game, will also be at the event! Simply show up and get on the leaderboard during our grand opening to win! Entry to the competition is a free-will donation to support local youth esports programs, and all skill levels are welcome!
“This is the first event like this that GIANTS Software has been part of in the United States! We are eager to be part of the esports movement in the Midwest and support a nonprofit organization focused on using esports in such a positive way to impact young people’s lives. I wish we had something like this when I was a kid,” shared Kermit Ball.
As you know, meeting tweens, teens, and young adults where they are is essential. With 95% of Gen Z playing video games in some capacity, DEL knows how important it is to create a platform. DEL wishes to use this opportunity to develop an Esports program to create a platform for them to interact and grow. Seeking to use this platform to provide opportunities for EVERYONE to help develop their STEM-based skills, social-emotional attributes, and characteristics while discovering career pathways and enhancing skills needed to thrive in work and life.
“Our organization is a hub for personal growth, innovation, and technology. We use esports as a tool to introduce participants to team building, leadership skills, STEM learning, and more. Already through our camps this summer, we’ve heard from campers and their parents about the positive impact they have seen in their son or daughter. This gives them a place to meet new people, make new friends, all while learning skills to help them in the future,” shared Shelby Wartick, co-founder of DEL.
