The Jo Davies County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch Center received a call reporting a motorcycle crash with injuries Sunday, on South Pleasant Hill Road. This is about 1⁄4 mile north of West Reusch Road in rural Elizabeth.

Deputies investigating the crash learned that the driver was Daniel Kretschmer 73, of Elizabeth, Illinois. He drove his motorcycle north on South Pleasant Hill Road. Kretschmer was traveling over a knoll and down a hill when he encountered an unmarked and newly sealed-coated roadway in Elizabeth Township. Kretschmer lost control of the motorcycle when he encountered a curve. Kretschmer’s motorcycle traveled along the roadway and then into a ditch, where Kretschmer was ejected from the motorcycle. He hit an electrical box pedestal as well as a utility pole. 

Kretschmer was transported to Midwest Medical Center in Galena, before being transferred to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque. He was treated for injuries sustained in the crash. 

The crash remains under investigation.
