Dubuque Iowa 6-11th, 2023 DIP News

Dayron Guzman 26, has a court date of June 26th, in Dubuque County Iowa District Court to enter a plea.

Officers were dispatched to check on a subject reportedly in distress. This was near the intersection of University and Pennsylvania Avenues in Dubuque. Alberto Hernandez-Avilo, 32, of Dubuque was found in that area with stab wounds to his abdomen. Hernandez-Avilo was transported by ambulance to Unity Point-Finley Hospital, Dubuque, for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds. A subsequent investigation found Hernandez-Avilo was stabbed during a disturbance earlier that morning at an apartment complex on Pennsylvania Avenue. As a result of the evidence and information gathered by officers throughout the day, an arrest was made in this case. Dayron Sanchez Guzman, 26, of Dubuque, was arrested for attempted murder.

Attempting to commit murder is a class “B” felony punishable up to 25 years in prison.

A $ 250, 000 bond has been set.

All subjects arrested are assumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
