The big story for local athletes at the Iowa State Track Meet was Wahlert High School and Hempstead’s Wheel Entry

Walhert Boys hit gold with Duke Faley’s record-breaking discus toss of 195.01 feet and his win in the shot put with a toss of 58.02.75.

Walhert boys finished 12th in Class 3A.

4) Emma Donovan won the gold in 3:58.56

Walhert Girls team took 4th place in the Girls 3A competition.

In class 4A Boys Dubuque Hempstead finished with 26 points, one point behind Dubuque Senior with 25 points.

Dubuque Hempstead athlete John Maloney was the top Mustang Boys performer with a 5th place finish in 3200 meters and 1600 meters

The Mustang girls finished tied for 10th place in 4A.

The Mustang girls won gold in the 800 meters. Katleitzen win in 2:11.46

Dubuque Hempstead’s Alley Darter put on quite a show at the meet. She won the shot put, girls 100 meters, 200 meters, and 400 meters in the wheelchair events. Leading Dubuque Hempstead to a state championship.

Dubuque Senior took gold in the shot put with Cohen Phols’ toss of 57–05 feet.

The Senior Girls top finisher was Leah Klapatauskas, who finished 6th in the 1600 meters and 8th in the 3200 meters.
