One Vehicle Accident

On April 6, 2023, at approximately 10:45 Pm the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a one vehicle crash on Hwy 61 at Buena Vista Lane.

Brielle Schmieder, age 21 of Platteville, along with two passengers were traveling south of Highway 61 when she ran off the roadway on the west side. This was due to the brakes on her vehicle “locking up.” Schmieder over corrected the vehicle crossing the north bound lanes of traffic before entering the west bound ditch line and striking the embankment. The vehicle traveled along the embankment before resting in the northbound traffic lanes facing southbound. There were no injuries reported due to the crash. Potosi Fire Department and Potosi EMS assisted at the scene. Bennett’s Towing of Lancaster removed the vehicle.

Two Vehicle Accident HWY 80

April 9, 2023, at approximately 1:16 AM the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, was notified of a two-vehicle head-on crash on Hwy 80 at Hillside Cemetery Road.

Bryce Keleher, age 22 of Platteville, was driving north on Highway 80 when he crossed the center line. He struck a Southwest Health ambulance head on. The ambulance was driven by Colton Klemm, age 22 of Browntown, who traveledsouth on Highway 80. Justin Leeser, age 24 of Benton was a passenger in the ambulance. The ambulance did not have a patient on board and was not traveling urgently. Bryce Keleher was arrested for Operating While Under the Influence. Bryce was also cited for operating left center. No injuries were reported due to the crash. 

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Platteville Police Department, Platteville Fire Department, and Southwest Health EMS.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office presumes innocent until proven guilty by a court of law anyone arrested or referred for charges. An arrest only indicates probable cause for formal charges. The names of victims and witnesses to a crime have been withheld per Wisconsin Statute §950.04
