On 4/25/2022 a landowner reported a one-vehicle accident at approximately 2:12 am, in the town of Smelser to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office

The driver of the vehicle, Eliezer Antonio Cantillano Fernandez, age 33, of Cuba City, was traveling westbound on CTH H near ALT Rd when he swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway. Cantillano Fernandez subsequently lost control of his vehicle and entered the ditch, where he struck a culvert before striking a tree.

After some investigation, Cantillano-Fernandez was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated, 1st offense. Cantillano-Fernandez was also cited for failure to maintain control of his vehicle, operating without insurance, and operating without a valid driver’s license.

Cantillano- Fernandez was wearing his seat belt and was not injured in the crash.
