CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The Cedar Falls Police Department issued a public safety warning on Thursday, November 5, 2026, urging residents to guard their drinks against tampering.
“Protect Your Drink. Protect Each Other,” the department’s warning reads. “Never leave a drink unattended. Keep it in sight. If something feels off, ask for help.”
The warning tells anyone who suspects drink spiking to call 911 or tell venue staff.
The warning comes shortly after a sixth report of sexual abuse was filed with the University of Northern Iowa Police Department since October 16, 2026, with officials citing concerns about drink spiking in connection with the reports, according to KWWL.
No suspect has been named, and no details about the individual reports have been released. The reports are allegations, and no one has been charged in connection with them in the information released so far.
Anyone who believes their drink may have been tampered with, or who has experienced sexual assault, can contact UNI Police at 319-273-2712 or Cedar Falls Police at 319-291-2515, or call 911 in an emergency. Support is also available through the Riverview Center at 888-557-0310, the Iowa Sexual Abuse Hotline at 800-284-7821, and UNI’s Title IX Coordinator at 319-273-2846.
