STEVENS POINT, Wis. — Junior quarterback Nathan Uselding threw five touchdown passes on October 31, 2026, leading the No. 2 University of Wisconsin-Platteville football team to a 35-7 road win over UW-Stevens Point.
The victory kept the Pioneers unbeaten at 8-0 overall and 5-0 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. Stevens Point fell to 2-6 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
Uselding completed 22 of 33 passes for a season-high 416 yards. Two of his touchdown passes went to senior Jaxson Garbisch, who caught six passes for a team-high 127 yards and has now caught multiple touchdowns in a game five times this season.
The biggest play of the afternoon came early in the second quarter. Pinned at its own one-yard line, Platteville needed only one play to score, as Uselding found Garbisch over the middle and Garbisch outran the defense for a 99-yard touchdown. The play set a new UW-Platteville record for the longest play in program history and matched the WIAC record for the longest pass play, a mark previously set in 1989.
Platteville had opened the scoring on its first sustained drive, after three consecutive three-and-outs to start the game. Starting from its own 12-yard line, the Pioneers converted three third downs before Uselding capped the drive with a touchdown pass to Garbisch, giving Platteville a 7-0 lead after one quarter.
Stevens Point answered midway through the second quarter with a 75-yard, 13-play drive, finished by a six-yard touchdown pass from Joseph Cheatham to Lucas Milz that cut the lead to 14-7. Cheatham, making his first start for the Pointers, completed 13 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown.
Platteville restored its two-touchdown cushion just before halftime. An 11-play, 67-yard drive ended with a four-yard touchdown pass to senior Zackary Bothun with eight seconds left in the half, making it 21-7. Bothun also led the Pioneers on the ground with 73 yards on 21 carries.
The Pioneers scored again on their opening drive of the third quarter, when Uselding connected with junior Shane Crandall for an 85-yard touchdown. Crandall finished with 93 yards on two catches. Senior Kristian Gavric added 104 yards on three receptions, and sophomore Brayden Knoll caught six passes for 65 yards and a touchdown.
Stevens Point’s defense forced a season-high four turnovers, with two interceptions and two fumble recoveries, but could not turn those chances into enough points. Carter Dahlke and Paul Morris tied for the team lead with nine tackles each, and Denver Treleven recorded two sacks, including a sack-fumble he recovered. Platteville’s lone turnover came on a third-quarter interception by junior Carter Contreras. Sophomore kicker Brady Mobley converted all five extra points, and senior punter Benjamin Younker averaged 54.3 yards on three punts, with a long of 62 yards.
