The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public to be vigilant after counterfeit $20 bills were reported in northeast Iowa. These bills, which have surfaced during social media marketplace transactions, are marked with “For Motion Picture Purposes” and “In Props We Trust.”

Sheriff Joe Kennedy noted that while these transactions can be brief, it is crucial to take the time to verify the authenticity of the currency. Anyone who encounters these fake bills is encouraged to contact local authorities immediately.
