Dubuque Police Department activity reports for July and August 2026 show a general decrease in calls for service, arrests, citations, written warnings, and OWI arrests, while the number of warrants served rose.

In July, officers responded to 3,678 calls for service. That figure fell to 3,217 in August, a drop of 461 calls, or about 12.5 percent.

Arrests also declined, from 226 in July to 202 in August, a reduction of 24 arrests (approximately 10.6 percent). Citations decreased more noticeably, falling from 516 to 416 (a drop of 100, or nearly 19.4 percent). Written warnings saw the sharpest relative decline, dropping from 202 to 144 (58 fewer, or about 28.7 percent).

OWI arrests decreased from 28 in July to 22 in August, a reduction of six (21.4 percent).

The only category that increased was warrants served. Officers served 67 warrants in July and 89 in August, an increase of 22 (nearly 33 percent).

Both monthly reports include the same note: “Arrests include both custodial and non-custodial bookings. This information does not infer or imply guilt for any person arrested or cited.”

Overall, August reflected lower volume across most categories of police activity compared with the previous month, with the exception of a notable rise in warrants served.
