DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Dubuque Fire Department responded to a working structure fire in a vacant two-story residence on Pinard Street on Labor Day morning, extinguishing the blaze with no injuries reported.

Dispatchers received the call at approximately 11:19 a.m. The first units arrived on scene at 11:23 a.m. and confirmed a working fire. Firefighters entered the building and applied water to the flames by 11:28 a.m.

Crews conducted a search of the residence, fully extinguished the fire, and completed overhaul operations to ensure no remaining hot spots. A total of 25 firefighters responded to the incident.

No civilian or firefighter injuries occurred.

The Dubuque Fire Department Fire Marshal investigated the fire and determined the cause was intentional. Estimated property loss is approximately $126,698.

Assisting agencies on scene included the Dubuque Police Department, Alliant Energy, and Black Hills Energy.

The investigation remains ongoing regarding the intentional nature of the fire. Officials have not released additional details at this time.
