CASSVILLE, Wis. — A Grant County couple from Iowa suffered severe injuries Friday afternoon after their motorcycle struck a deer and crashed on Highway 133 in Waterloo Township.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office received the report at 3:43 p.m. July 24 near the intersection of Highway 133 and Carter Lane. Deputies learned that Roger and Tammy Adkins, both of Eldridge, Iowa, were traveling southbound on a 2023 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when the bike struck a deer in the roadway.

The motorcycle turned on its side and slid approximately 75 yards. Both riders were ejected. Neither was wearing a helmet.

Cassville EMS treated the pair at the scene. They were then flown by helicopter to UW-Madison Hospital for further care. University of Wisconsin MedFlight and University of Iowa AirCare assisted with the air transport.

The crash remains under investigation. Cassville Fire Department, Cassville EMS, and Arrow Towing of Lancaster also responded to the scene.
