The City of Dubuque is holding its second Data Center Ordinance Roundtable Discussion tonight (Monday, July 27) at 6 p.m. at the Grand River Center (doors at 5:30). Residents are being asked for input on rules for any future data centers — water use, power demand, zoning, and developer accountability are big concerns. Feedback goes to the City Council for an August work session.

Discussion questions:

•  Should Dubuque proactively set strict rules before any proposals arrive, or wait until there’s a concrete project?

•  What’s the biggest risk (water, power rates, noise, visual impact) vs. the potential upside (jobs, tax base)?

•  Did you attend the first session? What stuck with you?
