GRANT COUNTY, Wis. — A two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon at the intersection of County Trunk Highway Z and State Trunk Highway 11 left a 78-year-old Livingston man and his passenger injured, authorities said.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the crash with injuries at approximately 12:41 p.m. on June 19, 2026. Deputies and emergency responders from the Hazel Green Fire Department and Hazel Green EMS responded to the scene.
According to the sheriff’s office, James Ashmore, 78, of Livingston, was traveling eastbound on STH 11 in a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox when the collision occurred. At the same time, Eli Lassen, 22, of Dubuque, Iowa, was traveling southbound on CTH Z in a 2015 Acura.
Investigators determined that Lassen failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign-controlled intersection and pulled onto STH 11 directly into the path of Ashmore’s vehicle. The impact caused heavy damage to both vehicles.
Ashmore and his unidentified passenger were transported by ambulance to Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa, for treatment of their injuries. Lassen was not injured.
Assisting agencies at the scene included the Hazel Green Fire Department, Hazel Green EMS, and personnel from the Kieler Service Center in Kieler.
Lassen was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign.
