With Independence Day coming up soon, here’s a quick reminder of the City of Dubuque’s policies regarding consumer fireworks…
🧨 Consumer fireworks can be legally used within the Dubuque city limits during the hours of 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on July 3 and 4.
🧨 Fireworks are not allowed to be used on public property at any time. This includes City streets, parks, sidewalks, trails, parking areas, etc.
🧨 Violating the City’s fireworks ordinance carries a fine of $250 or more. Violators can also be held responsible for injuries or property damage caused by fireworks.
If you choose to use fireworks in Dubuque, please do so safely, legally, and respectfully. All fireworks come with a risk of injury, and many members of our community can be upset by the loud noises and flashes of bright lights that fireworks produce. This is especially true for veterans, pet owners, and those with post-traumatic stress or anxiety disorders.
The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to leave them to the professionals. There are great displays across the Dubuque area each year, including the annual July 3 airshow and fireworks over the Mississippi River.
