JONES COUNTY, Iowa — A 68-year-old motorcyclist from Maquoketa was injured Saturday afternoon after losing control of his motorcycle on County Road D61, ejecting him from the vehicle.
The crash occurred around 2:13 p.m. near 2789 County Road D61. According to the Iowa State Patrol report (Incident No. 202600149808), Chester Lee Sutton was traveling eastbound on his 1980 Honda motorcycle when it entered the shoulder of the roadway. Sutton lost control, was ejected from the motorcycle, and both he and the vehicle came to rest in the south ditch.
Sutton sustained injuries and was transported by Cascade Ambulance to MercyOne for medical treatment. The full extent of his injuries has not been publicly released.
The motorcycle was towed from the scene by Koob Towing. Responders from the Jones County Sheriff’s Office, Cascade Fire and EMS, Iowa State Patrol, and other assisting units responded to the incident. Trooper J. Kuhlman (Post 10) was the primary investigating officer, with assistance from ISP personnel.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash. At this early stage, authorities have not indicated contributing factors such as weather conditions, road hazards, or impairment. The incident is classified as a personal injury crash.
