Lancaster, Wis. – A 20-year-old Mineral Point woman sustained minor injuries after her vehicle left the roadway to avoid a deer early Thursday morning.

On May 22, 2026, at approximately 12:39 a.m., a Grant County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a crash detection alert near 2970 CTH A, east of Lancaster in Ellenboro Township. First responders from the Platteville Fire Department and Southwest Health Center also responded to the scene.

According to authorities, Kaelyn Baker was traveling eastbound on County Highway A when she swerved to avoid striking a deer. Her vehicle then entered the ditch and struck an embankment.

Baker was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. She was transported by ambulance to Southwest Health Center in Platteville for treatment of suspected minor injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
