
Platteville, WI – A high-speed crash involving a highway work zone injured two people on Highway 151 near Airport Road in Jamestown Township on Thursday morning, May 21, 2026.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. while Grant County Highway Department crews were repairing the northbound lanes. A highway department truck and trailer were positioned as a protective barrier for workers.
Lilyan Gruntorad, 19, of DeWitte, Iowa, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox northbound when she struck the rear of the highway truck at an estimated speed of over 70 mph. After the initial impact, Gruntorad’s vehicle crossed into the northbound passing lane and collided with a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Teresa Pluemer, 63, of Platteville.
Both Gruntorad and Pluemer were transported to Southwest Health Center in Platteville by Dickeyville EMS and Southwest Health EMS for treatment of their injuries. No highway workers were injured.
Gruntorad was cited for inattentive driving and failure to slow for a stopped emergency/roadside vehicle.
Emergency personnel from Jamestown First Responders, Jamestown Fire Department, Dickeyville Fire Department, and towing services assisted at the scene.
The Accident remain under investigation by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
