Dickeyville, WI – A two-vehicle collision in the Village of Dickeyville left one driver with minor injuries on the afternoon of Saturday, May 15. The crash occurred around 2:32 p.m. at the intersection area of W. Main Street and S. Center Street.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Kimberly Henderson, 43, of Morgantown, Indiana, was legally parked along W. Main Street in her 2013 Toyota Sienna van. As she pulled out from the parked position to enter the roadway, she failed to yield to oncoming traffic and pulled directly into the path of a northbound 2018 Ford Escape operated by Mary Taylor, 31, of Bloomington.

The front driver’s side corner of Henderson’s Toyota Sienna struck the front passenger side corner of Taylor’s Ford Escape. The impact was significant enough to deploy the airbags in the Ford Escape. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene by Donnie’s Tire and Tow.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Henderson was uninjured. Taylor complained of apparent minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle for further evaluation.

A deputy who responded to the scene issued Henderson a citation for Failure to Yield Right of Way from a Parked Position. No other citations were reported.

Emergency personnel from the Dickeyville Fire Department and Dickeyville EMS also responded to the incident to assist at the scene.

Traffic Safety Reminder

Accidents involving vehicles pulling out from parked positions are relatively common in small communities like Dickeyville, particularly along Main Street corridors that see a mix of local traffic, parked vehicles, and through traffic. Drivers are reminded to carefully check mirrors and blind spots, use turn signals, and yield appropriately when entering the flow of traffic. Even at low speeds, side-impact collisions can cause airbag deployment and vehicle damage, as seen in this case.

No further details on road closures or long-term impacts were released, and traffic returned to normal shortly after the vehicles were cleared. The investigation by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office is considered complete with the issuance of the citation.
