DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Multicultural Family Center (MFC) will host a free Indigenous Heritage Celebration on Saturday, May 16, 2026, starting at 10 a.m. at 1157 Central Ave.

The event will feature Indigenous culture through storytelling, traditional music, dance, food, history, and community connection. It aims to honor Indigenous people and strengthen ties between the Dubuque community and the Meskwaki Nation.

“This is not simply another community event…it is a historic opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the Dubuque community and the Meskwaki Nation,” said MFC Director LaMetra Murdock. “Moments like this do not happen often, and we welcome the community to be part of a welcoming and meaningful experience.”

The celebration will highlight a performance by Larry Yazzie, a traditional Native American dancer and two-time World Champion Fancy Dancer from the Meskwaki Nation (Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa), the only federally recognized Native American tribe in Iowa.

The Multicultural Family Center serves as a welcoming space for cultural exchange, learning, and celebration where everyone is valued and supported.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information and upcoming events, visit MFCDBQ.org.
