Elizabeth, IL (April 15, 2026) – A single-vehicle rollover crash on April 13, 2026, at approximately 4:06 p.m. claimed the life of a 21-year-old front-seat passenger in rural Jo Daviess County.
The blue Ford Ranger, driven by Dayan Havens, 18, of Elizabeth, struck loose gravel on the north side of E. Skene Road, about six-tenths of a mile west of S. Massbach Road. The driver overcorrected, sending the vehicle across the roadway into the south-side ditch. Dayan Havens suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Elizabeth Ambulance to Mercy Hospital. He has been charged with Failure to Reduce Speed.
The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police Crash Reconstructionist are investigating. Responding agencies included Stockton Police Department, Elizabeth Fire Department, the Jo Daviess County Coroner, and AirCare 3. Authorities emphasize that Dayan Havens is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. The investigation remains ongoing.
