
DUBUQUE, IA — A Dubuque woman was arrested Saturday morning on a collection of felony and misdemeanor charges, including the intentional and knowing abuse of a dependent adult and theft against an older individual.
Amanda Mae Vandenberg, 39, was taken into custody at 2275 Pasadena Drive at 10:51 a.m. on November 22, 2025. The most serious allegations against her include Dependant Adult Abuse—Caretaker Intentionally and Knowingly (a misdemeanor) and Theft 3rd Degree Against Older Individual (a felony charge, indicating the value stolen was between $500 and $1,500).
According to police records (related to incident AR 2025008293), the charges stem from an investigation into alleged misconduct while serving as a caregiver.
In addition to the abuse and theft counts, Vandenberg faces three separate drug-related misdemeanor charges: Unlawful Possession of a Prescription Drug, Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana 1st Offense, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Vandenberg was booked into the Dubuque County Jail, and a cash bond was set at $9,300. As of late Saturday afternoon, the investigation remains active. It is important to remember that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
