Lancaster, WI – In a heartfelt tribute to the nation’s veterans, Grant County will once again participate in Operation Green Light for Veterans, a national campaign to honor those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. From November 4–11, 2025, iconic county buildings, including the Courthouse dome, will glow green, symbolizing gratitude, hope, and renewed commitment to supporting veterans and their families.
This marks Grant County’s continued participation in the growing initiative, now in its fourth year, led by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO). What began in 2021 as a collaboration among New York counties has blossomed into a nationwide movement, with over 300 counties illuminating their communities in green last year.
“Grant County is proud to call many veterans our own—both those serving as county employees and those living throughout our communities,” said Ken McAndrew, Grant County Veterans Service Officer. “Lighting our buildings green is a small but powerful gesture to show our deep appreciation for their service and to highlight the resources available to support them.”
Operation Green Light is more than a visual tribute. It aims to raise awareness about the unique challenges veterans face, from transitioning to civilian life to accessing healthcare and employment opportunities. The campaign also spotlights local, state, and federal programs designed to assist veterans and their families.
Grant County encourages residents, businesses, and organizations to join the effort by displaying green lights at their homes or workplaces during the week of November 4–11. Swapping a porch or window bulb for a green one is a simple way to show solidarity, spark conversations, and remind veterans they are valued and never forgotten. The green light symbolizes hope, renewal, and recognition, serving as a beacon of community support.
Nationwide, counties and individuals are invited to share their participation by posting photos of their green lights on social media with the hashtag #OperationGreenLight. Grant County hopes this collective effort will inspire meaningful dialogue and strengthen support for veterans across the region.
