Peosta, IA – June 5, 2025 – Dubuque County officials have announced a major road construction project on Old Highway Road, spanning from Peosta to Farley, set to begin on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 7:00 AM. The project, which involves culvert repairs and road paving, is expected to conclude by Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 5:00 PM. The affected stretch of Old Highway Road, running along E Main St from Sundown Rd to the City of Farley, covers approximately 8.03 miles.

The good news for residents and commuters is that Old Highway Road will remain open throughout the duration of the project, minimizing disruptions to local traffic. County officials have emphasized that the construction will focus on upgrading culverts and improving the road surface to enhance safety and durability for years to come.

“We’re committed to maintaining accessibility while improving the infrastructure along this key route,” said a Dubuque County Public Works spokesperson. “Drivers should expect periodic lane closures or minor delays, but we’ll work to keep traffic flowing smoothly.”

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone, obey posted speed limits, and be mindful of workers and equipment. Updates on the project’s progress will be provided as needed via the Dubuque County Public Works website and local news outlets.

For additional information or inquiries about the project, contact the Dubuque County Public Works Department at (563) 557-7283 or visit their official website.
