DUBUQUE COUNTY, Iowa – South Mound Road will undergo significant construction starting Wednesday, September 10, 2025, as part of a paving project led by Top Grade Excavating. The 4.94-mile stretch from State Route 3 to Mill Road will be fully closed for approximately one to two weeks, weather permitting, to facilitate pavement removal.

The initial closure will begin at 7:00 AM on September 10, 2025, and affect all traffic along the specified section of South Mound Road. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes during this period to avoid delays.

Following the pavement removal, paving operations will commence at a later date. During this phase, South Mound Road will remain open but restricted to one-lane traffic, managed by a pilot car and flaggers. This stage is expected to last approximately six to eight weeks, depending on weather conditions. Subsequent work, including shouldering and pavement markings, will follow the paving phase.
