Galena, IL – August 29, 2025 – The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is joining forces with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Police, and over 200 local law enforcement agencies to increase traffic safety efforts across the state. Throughout September, motorists can expect a surge in patrols targeting distracted driving, driving under the influence, and other traffic violations.

According to Lt. Kirk Raab, “We’ve seen a rise in careless and risky driving in recent years. Distracted and impaired driving poses a significant threat to all motorists, regardless of how safe a driver you think you are.”

During the enforcement campaign, officers will intensify patrols and ticket offenders on any road within Jo Daviess County. The goal is to save lives by reducing unnecessary risks on the road.

From September 3-30, drivers can expect stepped-up patrols throughout Jo Daviess County and the state. If spotted driving distracted or impaired, drivers can expect a ticket from the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

The effort is made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by IDOT and supports the department’s “It’s Not a Game” media campaign.
