A death investigation conducted by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office has concluded that a young man found deceased on July 4, 2025, died of natural causes.

According to authorities, deputies and Southwest Health Center EMS responded to a report of a male found lying on the ground near 7867 Hwy 80 in Lima Township at approximately 7:25 a.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, they found the body of 23-year-old William Schaefer, who resided on the property.

Following an autopsy, the cause of death was determined to be an underlying medical condition. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by Southwest Health Center EMS and the Grant County Coroner’s Office, investigated the scene.

No foul play is suspected in connection with Schaefer’s death.
