PLATTEVILLE, WI — On May 28, 2025, at approximately 7:51 AM, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Hwy 151 and Airport Rd in Platteville, Wisconsin.

According to the investigating deputy, McKenzie Short, 33, of Maquoketa, Iowa, was driving northbound on Hwy 151 in her 2017 Ford Escape. Simultaneously, Pedro Duran-Landa, 46, of Shullsburg, Wisconsin, was driving westbound on Airport Rd in his 2010 Toyota Prius. Duran-Landa stopped at the intersection’s stop sign but failed to notice Short’s vehicle in the right lane. As he pulled out, Short attempted to swerve and brake but could not avoid a collision. The front ends of both vehicles collided, resulting in disabling damage to both.

All occupants—Short, Duran-Landa, and his three passengers—were wearing seatbelts and reported no injuries. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Dickeyville Fire Department, Dickeyville EMS, Rips Towing, and Donnie’s Tire and Auto for towing services.

Duran-Landa was cited for Operating Without a License (2nd Offense), Failure to Yield Right-of-Way From a Stop Sign, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance.

Note: Persons cited or arrested by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Case Number: CFS25-13772.
