On May 21, 2025, at approximately 5:23pm, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a roll-over UTV crash on private property, just off of Oak Rd north of Dickeyville, in the Town of Paris.

When officers arrived on scene, they learned Mario Cardenas, 27, of St. Landry LA, was driving a 2019 Polaris UTV down a hill when he lost control on the muddy hillside. The UTV rolled onto its side pinning Cardenas underneath of it and was the lone occupant on the UTV and was not wearing his seat belt.

He was located approximately two hours after he left on the UTV, and was unresponsive and showed no signs of life.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources with the investigation. The Dickeyville Fire Department and Dickeyville EMS assisted at the scene.
