Dubuque, IA – On October 14, 2024, Judge Monica L. Zrinyi Ackley presided over the arraignment of Tavon Baylock, who faces multiple serious charges stemming from an incident on June 23, 2022. The court has scheduled a pretrial conference for January 13, 2025, at 3:30 PM, followed by a jury trial set to begin on January 21, 2025, at 9:30 AM.

Dubuque, IA – On September 23, 2024, Tavon Demarcus Baylock, a 25-year-old resident of Chicago Illinois, was arrested on multiple felony charges after being extradited back to Dubuque.

He was severing time in the WESTERN ILLINOIS CORRECTIONAL CENTER for a felon in possession or use of a firearm

Baylock is charged with several offenses, including two counts of attempted murder (Class B Felony) under Iowa Code 707.11(1), related to the incident on June 23, 2022. He also faces one count of intimidation with a dangerous weapon (Class C Felony) under Iowa Code 708.6, for actions intended to injure or provoke fear. Additionally, Baylock is charged with conspiracy to commit a forcible felony (Class C Felony) under Iowa Code 706.3(1), dominion/control of a firearm by a felon (Class D Felony) under Iowa Code 724.26(1), and going armed with intent (Class D Felony) under Iowa Code 708.8. Furthermore, he faces two counts of reckless use of a firearm resulting in property damage (Aggravated Misdemeanor) under Iowa Code 724.30(3).

The charges against Baylock are severe, with the most serious being the two counts of attempted murder, each classified as a Class B felony. The prosecution alleges that Baylock’s actions on June 23, 2022, included attempts to cause serious harm and intimidation using a dangerous weapon. He is currently being held in the Dubuque County Jail on a $750,000 bond.

In June 2022, Baylock was allegedly in a vehicle firing shots at another occupied vehicle, which was struck by bullets. Homes in the 2300 block of Central Avenue, near a daycare, were also damaged, though fortunately, no one was hurt.
